2021 Summer Gathering

Due to the postponment by the UK Government of England lockdown exit step 4 from 21st June to 19th July, the host venues for our Rally (Braunston Marina and Braunston Village Hall) were unable to accomodate us. Consequently all formal activities of the Rally were cancelled. However around two dozen members attended with boats, mooring either side of Butchers Bridge (number 1) on the Grand Union Canal between the two marina entrance bridges; with a couple in privately arranged moorings in the marina. A few other members attended by road.

Thus, we regard this as a Summer Gathering, rather than a full Rally.

The only ogainised activities took place in the open air. One was a walk exploring the old loops of the Oxford Canal, disused railways and Wolfhampcote Church. The other was a Treasure Hunt with clues in the village and around the canal.

On Sunday afternoon many Rally attendees visited some of the gardens participating in the Braunston Open Gardens 2021 day, contributing to a record sum raised for Macmillian Cncer Support.

Due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) epidemic we cancelled the 2020 rally which was to be held at Circus Field Basin, Aylesbury - home of the Aylesbury Canal Society.
