RNR 2001 Rally
At Three Mills on the River Lee in East London.
On the Saturday and Sunday many boats which attended undertook a short circular
voyage, departing through Bow Locks onto the tidal Bow Creek, then up the tidal
Thames rounding the Isle of Dogs, to Limehouse Basin. Thence back to Three Mills
by the Limehouse cut.
Following the rally, many boats returned up the tidal Thames from Limehouse
to either Brentford or Teddington. Together with a couple of other canal boats,
these were formed into a convoy with a River Police escort as far as Hungerford
Bridge. The sight of over 20 canal boats passing through central London was
unusual.

This rally was in conjunction with the annual Three Mills Boat Rally
organised by the St. Pancras Cruising Club and the local IWA North & East London branch.
The workshop and formal RNR lecture sessions were held in the adjoining
film studio complex, not far from the famous or infamous Big Brother house.
